History of socks

Socks not only have the function of cold protection, but with the strengthening of people's aesthetic consciousness, socks will eventually become "the time on the legs", reflecting the trend of fashion.

In recent years, people have become more and more integrated with clothing. The role of socks is not only to protect the feet, but also to play a role in setting off the charming curves of the legs and making up for the defects of the legs. There are also many varieties of socks, such as cotton socks, silk stockings, sports socks, etc. They are made of different materials and techniques, with different styles and artistic styles, adapting to the different needs of people in colorful life.

The earliest socks were born in the fifteenth century, and the production of socks at that time had to rely on manual work. At the end of the sixteenth century, a pastor in England invented a mechanical weaving machine that completely changed the history of the handmade socks.

The development of silk stockings is a history that condenses the needs of technology and human needs. Early silk stockings were made from natural fibers such as cotton, wool and silk. These materials must be carefully cut and sewn before application, and because of their lack of flexibility, the manufacturing cost is extremely high, and the woven socks are easily loosened.

In 1937, a DuPont chemist accidentally discovered that a mixture of coal tar, air and water melted at a high temperature to pull a hard, wear-resistant, slender and flexible filament. This is the nylon fiber that was later widely known. The development of nylon stockings is undoubtedly a milestone in the history of socks, but while enjoying the silk stocking revolution brought by nylon, women found that the biggest flaw in nylon stockings is the lack of flexibility.

In 1959, DuPont, after nylon fiber, once again contributed to the world a man-made fiber product with excellent elasticity - Lycra. The appearance of Lycra compensated for the lack of nylon.

As a necessities in the life of ordinary consumers, cotton socks are highly inclusive in the choice of color, while the characteristics of natural fibers make cotton socks easy to color. Cotton socks are mostly made of cotton and chemical fiber blended or cotton-wool blended. While maintaining the color and elegance, and the use of fashion patterns, cotton socks are increasingly attracting its consumer groups.

The content of science and technology is also the continuous fresh blood of socks. With the continuous development of some new types of fibers, the socks are also beautiful in appearance. Nowadays, with the prevalence of outdoor sports, a variety of sports socks have emerged. They have different functions and different appearances, which has become a new trend of socks.
